Physical and chemical quality Control test of potable/raw water

The procedure of potable/raw water quality control test.

PROCEDURE 

  •  Use a 500 ml vessel with a stopper for sampling.
  • On the vessel write the name of sample, place and date of sampling.
  •  Allow water to run for 2-3 min. before sampling.
  • Examine water as per the internal specification.
  • Sample potable/raw water daily and examine it as per the parameters given below.
  • Daily: Description, pH, Chlorides, Total Hardness (Attachment-I).
  • On Monday weekly: Description, pH, Chlorides, Sulphate, Total Hardness, Turbidity, Solid Residue (Attachment-I).
  • Monthly: Odour, Taste, Colouration, Turbidity, pH, Oxidability, Nitrogen, Chlorides, Iron, Fluoride (Attachment-II).
  • Once in year: Odour, Taste, Coloration, Turbidity, pH, Oxidability, Nitrogen, Total Hardness, Solid Residue, Chlorides, Sulphate, Iron, Copper, Zink, Lead, Arsenic, Fluoride, Residual Aluminum, Polyphosphates, Molybdenum, Manganese (Attachment-II).
  • If the water sample fails to pass the test repeat the analysis.
  • If the water sample fails to pass the test again inform the Lab. In-Charge.
