OPERATION ,CLEANING, CALIBRATION AND MAINTENANCE OF INFRARED MOISTURE ANALYSER
OPERATION , CLEANING, CALIBRATION, AND MAINTENANCE OF INFRARED MOISTURE ANALYSER
1) PURPOSE : To describe the method of Operation, Cleaning, Calibration and Maintenance of an Infrared (IR) Moisture Analyser
2) SCOPE : This SOP is applicable for the Operation, Cleaning, Calibration and Maintenance of IR moisture analyser Make Ohaus, Model-MB23,Capacity 110 g ,Accuracy 0.001% having Temperature Range 500C to 1600C installed in the QC department
3) FREQUENCY :
- Operation : As and when required
- Cleaning : Daily before & after operation
- Calibration : Daily for balance & yearly for temperature sensor
- Maintenance : As and when required, mainly during break down
4) RESPONSIBILITY : Executive QC, Officer QC
5) EQUIPMENT /MATERIALS REQUIRED : IR Moisture Balance, Clean spatula, Certified Calibration weights, Clean Mortar & Pestle, Clean & Dry Brush.
6) PRECAUTIONS :
- Avoid the unnecessary burning of IR lamp.
- Do not handle the moisture analyser roughly.
- Adjust the spirit levels by using levelling screws of the balance.
- Use voltage stabiliser.
- Do not weigh the magnetized samples.
7) PROCEDURE :
- Operation :
- Switch “ON” the mains.
- Check the spirit level of IR Moisture Analyser.
- Press the POWER/BRK’ key to display grams, now the machine is in the measurement mode and is ready to measure the sample.
- Press “TARE” and wait till 0.000 appears on the LCD.
- Crush the sample in mortal for uniform granules & add the1.00 gm sample.
- Note the weight of the sample displays on the LCD.
- Spread the sample uniformly such that it has thickness about 1 mm.
- After completion of the drying the results appear on the LCD as percentage.
8) Cleaning :
- Wipe all the traces of organic solvent/water /moisture by tissue paper.
- Clean all the dust from the pan by tissue paper.
- Cover the instrument by PVC cover
- Calibration :
- Calibrate the IR moisture balance with certified weight once daily.
