HANDLING, CLEANING, AND CALIBRATION OF STANDARD WEIGHT

PROCEDURE

Handling of weight:

  • Each standard weight shall bear an identification number.
  • Don’t touch the weight directly with bare hands, wear hand Gloves for handling weights.
  • Carefully handle the weight to avoid any mechanical damage
  • All Standard weights shall be stored in a dust-free closed box.
  • Issuance of standard weights to the departments shall be maintained in the issuance log as per Attachment-I

Cleaning of weight:

  • Clean the weights weekly or whenever required.
  • Mop the entire standard weight with a clean lint-free mop moist with 70% IPA.
  • Allow to evaporate the 70% IPA residue and after that use the weight.

Calibration of weight:

  • All standard weights shall be calibrated after two years by Government approved agency.
  • Each standard weight shall bear its certificate of calibration along with traceability with
    National / International Standards.
  • Maintain the list of Standard Weights as per Attachment II.
